Fantasy-chasers

Proverbs 28:19 (NIV) says, "He who works his land will have abundant food, but the one who chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty."

Who are these fantasy-chasers this verse is talking about?  Fantasy-chasers are those who dream of success but do not do much to achieve it.  They do nothing significant with their lives, yet fantasize about how someday they will get a big break and success will arrive at their doorstep.

"If your vision doesn't cost you something, it's a daydream."  - John Maxwell

God puts it in the hearts of people to do something great with their lives. He has a plan for each of us and it is a great plan because He is a great God!  However, that does not mean every person will attain it.  It takes consistent effort and hard work to achieve success in any realm of life.

Proverbs 13:11 says, "Wealth gained by dishonesty will be diminished, But he who gathers by labor will increase."

Many people talk of success, dream of success, and wait for success.  But if they are not willing to get up, get to work, and put forth the effort to attain their goals, their dream of success will never be realized.  It is reduced to nothing more than a fantasy.  Doing nothing results in nothing!

"Every person who has become successful has simply formed the habit of doing things that failures dislike doing and will not do."  - John Maxwell

Taking the easy way (avoiding challenges) is not going to get you where you want to be.  Choosing the path of least resistance seldom leads to success.  The road to your dream must be traveled with diligence and faith.  You must possess confidence and a "want to" that is big enough to overcome every obstacle.

Proverbs 21:25 says, "The desire of the lazy man kills him, For his hands refuse to labor."

For many people, the dream in their heart haunts them with disappointment, dissatisfaction, and failure.  The desire of their heart has become a source of death and not life for them because they have not diligently pursued it.  They know God has something better for them but feel trapped in an unfullfilling life.  They can only blame themselves for refusing to labor according to the plan of God.

You must commit to put out the effort required to make your desires come to pass.  Do not be a fantasy-chaser.  Be willing to work hard and make sacrifices so that you can achieve the dream that God has put within your heart.

"Pursuing your dream takes the same amount of work as acquiring more things that you don't really care about or want - so you might as well pursue your dream."  - John Maxwell
